The Queensland Opposition says it will release its new water policy next week.
The Liberal Member for Noosa, Glen Elmes, says the coalition’s policy will ensure water security for south-east Queensland without the need for the Traveston Crossing Dam near Gympie.
He has dismissed criticism by Deputy Premier Paul Lucas in Parliament about the Coalition’s differing views on water, but says all will soon be revealed.
“The policy that we put out in a few days’ time will not include the Traveston Crossing Dam because there are far better ways of going about getting water for south-east Queensland,” he said.
“Paul Lucas knows that, they’re just being bloody minded and they’re locking themselves into a proposal that is not going to do anyone any good.”
